Do you love to ski or snowboard? Then this is the event for you!

Pattern is organising a ski trip again this year, and we will again go to Les Deux Alps in France! The trip will depart Friday, February 3rd, and will arrive back in Eindhoven Sunday, February 12th. The trip will take 10 days, of which 2 are travel days. This leaves us with 8 days in Les Deux Alps! The location we will stay at is Résidence Meijotel, which is only 50 metres from the piste!

A 6-day ski pass is included in the price, which can be upgraded to 7 days. Also included in the price is the bus ride with your fellow students, and the accommodation. Food and drinks are not included in the price.

A deposit of €200 and optional bed linen (€14) will need to be paid in cash on location.

Testing is an important part of every software development project. However, in practice testing isn’t an integral part of machine learning projects yet. At Sogeti we created the Quality AI framework which enables us to implement machine learning models while being conscience about fairness, quality, sustainability, and transparency. In this presentation, we will discuss all the previously mentioned pillars and we will show, with some practical examples, how we can test them.

Pattern is organising their second wellbeing hour on the 8th of December in the lunchbreak (12.30-13.30)

We want to give our members the opportunity to talk to each other and a professional about this subject and anything related to that and give each other tips and tricks on how to tackle certain problems regarding this. This time, the subject is Everyday Addictive Behaviour.

During this our we will share our experiences with everyday addictive behaviours, which can be related to social media, drinking, stress eating and a lot more. It is a very broad topic that covers a lot. In this hour you get to share your experiences, share tips on how to control these behaviours and listen to others. A professional will also give a short presentation on the subject.

To give everyone the chance to speak up, the registrations are limited to 10 students.

GLOW is an annual light art festival that takes place in Eindhoven where your favorite hotspots are brightened up ✨ with dazzling light shows. With the GLOW Festival happening, the Internationalization Committee 🌏 is leading an International GLOW Tour on the 16th of November! The meeting place will be held at 19:00 in front of Bijenkorf, next to America Today.

Stalls selling Glühwein 🍷, oliebollen 🥯 , and other winter goodies will be there to keep you warm as you enjoy the GLOW arts 🌟 along the way.

Lastly, we will be having dinner on campus before the tour, join us 👯‍♀️ if you would like!

During the in-house day Jorg van Heesch will elaborate on the data science field within Prodrive Technologies.

Jorg: “The inhouse day is split into two parts. The first part will be a presentation about data science in Prodrive, tailored to the data science of the future. Since our field is very novel, I will shed some light of what we believe the future will holds for young talent. Free career advice! The second part involves a tour in our state-of-the-art factory. We will show our automated production lines, automated guided vehicles, and logistic automations. I hope to see you all.”

Jorg van Heesch has a background in manufacturing systems engineering and has been working for two years as a data engineer at Prodrive Technologies. He oversees the implementation of data analytics applications within the manufacturing domain and works closely together with all stakeholders.

DHL did a Business Case Analysis on the sales opportunity after which it turned out the costs of an order line exceeded the expected level. Can you halp them to fix this problem?

Your customer has asked you to create a statistical future forecast, aiming for better forecast performance and with that, less costs, less waste and better customer service. Can you select the best performing model?

VVA

Over the last couple of years, housing associations have been merging to reduce costs. As a business consultant from VVA it is your task to help two companies merge successfully!

You are free to find solutions using Data Science and AI techniques, while the companies support students with their approach and programming choices. During the event, you will learn hard skills like data preparation and programming, as well as soft skills like presenting. There will be a full day of interaction with the companies about the business case. In this way, you will get to know the companies. Furthermore, during lunch, dinner, and drinks, you will have the possibility to talk in a more informal setting.

This event is well-suited for those that have a good understanding of Data Science and make sure to dress business casual ;)

Next Monday, the 12th of September, D.S.A. Pattern will have its 20th General Members Meeting. The GMM is Pattern's most formal event and the place where important decisions regarding the Association are made.

During the upcoming GMM, the Board for 2022 - 2023 will be installed 🥳. The new board will present their policy plan and there will be a vote on the budget for the upcoming year.
