About Institutional Benchmarking Institute

Institutional Benchmarking Institute (IBI) provides institutional investors with systematic, actionable cost benchmarking insights vis-à-vis the best-in-class performance, processes and methods of its peers.

The goal of benchmarking is to improve the understanding of processes, to strengthen company performance, and to help obtain maximum value for money. In other words: IBI helps asset owners to manage costs, optimise performance, and obtain value for money.

IBI provides its clients with clear graphics that help them communicate their strategy, the choices they made and their execution to their members and its stakeholders. Here, IBI helps its clients to use the power of data to tell your story.

About Benchmarking

Benchmarking is the practice of comparing business processes and performance metrics to industry bests and best practices from other companies. Also referred to as "best practice benchmarking", this process is used in management where organizations evaluate various aspects of their processes in relation to best-practice companies' processes, usually within a peer group defined for the purposes of comparison. This then allows organizations to develop plans on how to make improvements or adapt specific best practices, usually with the aim of increasing some aspect of performance. Benchmarking may be a one-off event but is often treated as a continuous process in which organizations continually seek to improve their practices.

About IBI

IBI has been benchmarking asset management and pension management (administration) costs for its Dutch pension fund clients since 2013. Over the past 9 years, IBI’s client base has steadily grown to 67 Dutch pension funds. These 67 funds represent the pensions of 13.5 million members in the Netherlands. That is 70% of the total in the Netherlands, including former participants.
